
Role –Associate Director (Landscape Design)
Location – Manchester
Salary – £DOE
Our client, an award-winning design-driven landscape studio is on the lookout for an Associate Director to join their Manchester team. This is a hands-on, design-led role, perfect for someone who loves developing great ideas, leading creative teams, and seeing projects through from early sketches to final delivery. The studio works across a wide range of project types, from public spaces and infrastructure to residential and masterplanning, always with a strong focus on quality, sustainability, and people-first design.
The studio is based in a central part of the city, that’s easy to get to and surrounded by shops, cafes, and local spots to grab lunch. Public transport links are excellent being just a short walk from a main tram line and within easy reach of a couple of key train stations. Several bus routes also pass nearby, and the area’s very walkable and cycle friendly. It’s a lively, well-connected area that makes commuting simple and offers a great atmosphere to work in.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Leading the design on major projects, from concept through to delivery
- Guiding and mentoring a talented team of landscape architects and designers
- Being the main point of contact for clients, consultants, and collaborators
- Contributing to the wider vision and direction of the studio
- Getting involved in bids, interviews, and new business conversations
- Helping build and shape the studio culture
QUALIFICATIONS AND KEY SKILLS
- A degree/post graduate degree in Landscape Architecture
- A strong portfolio that shows creative flair and technical knowledge
- Comfortable leading teams and managing project timelines and budgets
- Confident presenting work and building strong client relationships
- Skilled in design software like Adobe Suite, AutoCAD, Rhino (Revit is a bonus)
- A Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute (CMLI)
