Role – Landscape / Urban Designer

We are working with one of the leading development consultancies in Scotland who have an exciting opportunity for a talented, creative and passionate Landscape / Urban Designer. They are looking for someone to work on medium and large scale strategic, residential and mixed-use development masterplans. They are passionate about designing places that are great to live and work in, and which restore and provide access to nature.
You will be design orientated, have excellent technical skills and a strong team capability. You will have sound knowledge of residential, mixed-use and regeneration master planning in a Scotland context and also have a keen understanding of nature and biodiversity.
ABOUT THE ROLE
- In the role, the Landscape / Urban Designer will work alongside their multidisciplinary team to:
- Develop design solutions and strategies for a range of projects encompassing residential, mixed use and commercial masterplan commissions
- Develop projects from feasibility through concept and sketch design to the appropriate level of detail, including to outline or detailed planning
- Prepare high quality visualisations from sketch to illustrative and presentation standard
- Prepare assessments and written reports as relevant to place / masterplanning requirements
- Assist in the preparation of feasibility, design, planning and other documentation, as required
LANDSCAPE / URBAN DESIGNER QUALIFICATIONS AND KEY SKILLS
- Degree in Urban Design, Landscape Architecture
- Good working knowledge of current urban design issues in a Scotland context
- Good understanding of natural systems
- Excellent drawing and presentation skills and the ability to explain a design idea and evolution of a concept
- Outstanding graphic skills including the use of the full range of design packages (VectorWorks or AutoCad, the full Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp)
- The ability to work in a consultancy environment, with a strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, ability to work independently and show initiative and successfully manage time to meet project deadlines
- The ability to be able to work under close direction from senior colleagues as a key member of a multi-disciplinary team
- Excellent spoken and written English is essential
- Live within a commutable distance of Edinburgh, with a minimum attendance at the office 3 days a week with the potential for 2 days working remotely
- Full UK driving license and willingness to use own car occasionally for site visits etc
