Role – Principal Ecologist
Location – Tyne and Wear/Hybrid
Salary - £34 - £50K DOE
 
We are delighted to be working with an award-winning multi-disciplinary environmental consultancy who are searching for a Principal/Associate Ecologist. They support sustainable development and land management across the UK and Ireland. A CIEEM Registered Practice who demonstrate their commitment to high professional standards and delivery of the best outcomes for biodiversity.
 
They focus on continual development providing informal and structured training and encourage their ecologists to progress through the CIEEM membership levels and to obtain chartered status. We encourage progression and support our team in developing leadership and management skills.
 
SENIOR/PRINCIPAL ECOLOGIST ROLE
The successful Senior/Principal Ecologist will manage a wide range of field surveys and be responsible for ensuring the advice and recommendations resulting from these surveys are communicated effectively to clients through written reports and verbal communication.  You will be proactive in your approach to help our clients navigate the planning and licensing processes.
 
 
SENIOR/PRINCIPAL ECOLOGIST KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • A degree in ecology or closely related subject
  • Excellent botanical skills
  • Experience of Biodiversity Net Gain using Metric 3.1
  • Protected species licence(s)
  • Full CIEEM Membership
  • Have proven experience scoping, designing, pricing and delivering ecologically complex schemes
  • Experience producing a range of written assessments including desk based studies, technical reports, Preliminary Ecological Assessments and Ecological Impact Assessment
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Demonstrable experience leading extended phase 1 habitat surveys
  • Candidates with previous experience in winning work with new clients or in new markets is desirable
  • A full driving licence and use of vehicle
  • Eligible to work in the UK
