Role – Senior Ecologist
Location – Derbyshire
Salary - £32 - £35K DOE
We are working with a well-established multidisciplinary consultancy who deliver a wide range of services across the UK. They have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Ecologist to join their growing team based in Derbyshire.
The successful candidate will be involved in preliminary ecological appraisals, protected species surveys and overseeing a variety of complex projects. You will also be liaising with clients and other professionals, preparing quotes and mentoring junior members of staff.
SENIOR ECOLOGIST RESPONSIBILITIES
- Management and delivery of ecology and related multi-disciplinary projects across a range of sectors.
- Acting as day-to-day client interface
- Undertaking field surveys across a range of sites (including Phase 1 and Extended Phase 1 Habitat surveys and protected species surveys).
- Production of high quality, robust written documents, including survey reports, PEAs, EcIAs and ES Ecology Chapters for a range of development proposals
- Coordination of field surveys and deliverables for a range of client projects
- Co-ordination of specialist sub-consultants as required
- Developing new business opportunities and writing quotes/ tender proposals for relevant projects across a range of sectors
- Mentoring junior staff members in areas of expertise, both within the ecology team and across the company
SENIOR ECOLOGIST KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- A degree in Ecology or closely related subject
- Full CIEEM Membership
- Circa 5 years consultancy experience
- Excellent understanding of UK and European environmental legislation
- Excellent report writing skills
- Demonstrable protect species survey skills
- Protected species licence(s) Level 2 Bat Licence desirable
- A full clean UK driving licence
