Role – Senior Ecologist
Location – Greater Manchester
Salary - £35 - £40K DOE 
 
Lead Careers are working with a well-established multidisciplinary consultancy who are looking for a Senior Ecologist to join their friendly team. They work out of 5 offices UK wide, this particular role will be based out of their Greater Manchester office. The successful Senior Ecologist will be involved in all areas of their work including co-ordinating and undertaking protected species surveys and mitigation projects, advising clients of constraints and survey requirements, preparing ecology chapters for Environmental Impact Assessments, and managing a team of ecologists to find commercially efficient and cost-effective project solutions. This position offers a great opportunity for the right candidates to lead and deliver complex contracts and support more junior staff, draft high-quality reports and review technical work, as well as support clients and their design teams by identifying solutions to their problems.
SENIOR ECOLOGIST KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • A degree in Ecology or a closely related subject
  • 5 years’ relevant work experience
  • Full member of CIEEM or eligible
  • Excellent knowledge of UK and relevant European environmental legislation
  • Excellent fieldwork and report writing skills
  • Excellent skills liaising with clients, contractors, sub-contractors and third-party stakeholders
  • The ability to critically review your own work and a minimum 2 years’ experience of reviewing others’ work
  • Be competent in the survey of and mitigation for one or more of the following key protected species: bats, badgers, birds, dormice, great crested newts, reptiles, and water vole
  • Hold an EPS and/or conservation licence for one or more of the above species groups
  • Demonstrable project and staff management experience
  • Have a full clean UK driving licence
  • Be eligible to work within the UK
