Role – Senior Ecologist
Location – Surrey
Salary - £35- £38K
We are looking for a Senior Ecologist to join a multidisciplinary consultancy in Surrey. They are offering the opportunity to join a friendly and committed team of professionals and a supportive working environment. They are currently operating hybrid working, with a minimum of three days in the office and the remainder potentially available, by agreement, for working from home.

A multidisciplinary consultancy who employs Landscape Architects, Ecologists, Environmentalists, and Arboriculturists. Founded over 30 years ago they have established a reputation for their integrity and comprehensive portfolio of work and have accumulated extensive experience in all aspects of environmental design and planning throughout a wide range of sectors.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITES
- Preliminary Ecological Appraisals
- EcIA`s
- Protected species surveys
- Participation in planning led projects.
- Mitigation design
- Species translocation
- Management plans
- Habitats Regulations Assessments
- Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments
- Managing and taking ownership of projects
- Undertake EIA-level ecological reporting and assessment (EcIA) including negotiation with clients and other members of project team
- Lead on protected species mitigation including licensing
- Prepare fee proposals for major, and multidisciplinary projects
- Working away from home as required
- Working evening, night and early morning survey: 2 or 3 nights per week at peak times during the relevant survey season
SENIOR ECOLOGIST KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- A degree in Ecology or a closely related subject
- Full membership of CIEEM
- Hold at least hold at least 1 survey licence (e.g. bats, dormouse, GCN, crayfish)
- Experience working on large, multi-disciplinary projects
- Excellent botanical ID skills
- Detailed knowledge of UK species and habitat legislation
- Ability to work within a team and lead others
- Good working knowledge of Office software packages (eg: Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent written skills including ability to write clear assessment reports
- Good verbal communication
- Enthusiasm to further develop career and skills
- Good problem-solving skills
- Project management and budgeting skills
- Good negotiating skills
- Driving Licence essential and access to a car
