Role – Senior Landscape Architect

Lead Careers are working with a well-established landscape architecture studio in Gloucestershire that is looking to strengthen its Landscape Planning and LVIA team with the appointment of a Senior Landscape Architect. They’re a friendly, experienced team working on an excellent mix of projects across the UK, with plenty of variety in terms of project type, scale and location. Their work covers both landscape planning and design, although this particular role is very much focused on the LVIA and landscape planning side of the business. With a strong pipeline of work and continued growth, they’re looking for an experienced Landscape Architect who is confident undertaking landscape and visual assessments, managing projects and taking greater responsibility for client relationships and project delivery.

THE SENIOR LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT ROLE
Responsibilities will include:
  • Leading and preparing Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments (LVIA)
  • Undertaking Landscape and Visual Appraisals (LVA)
  • Landscape character and townscape assessments
  • Managing site appraisals, fieldwork and viewpoint photography
  • Overseeing the preparation of ZTVs and supporting visual material
  • Baseline research and landscape character analysis
  • Assessment of landscape and visual effects
  • Preparing and reviewing technical reports and planning documentation
  • Developing landscape mitigation strategies
  • Managing projects from initial appraisal through to submission
  • Coordinating with planning, ecology, architecture and other environmental disciplines
  • Liaising directly with clients, local authorities and wider consultant teams
  • Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team
  • Contributing to fee proposals, project programmes and the delivery of work to agreed deadlines
 
ABOUT YOU
The successful Senior Landscape Architect will ideally have:
  • A degree or postgraduate qualification in Landscape Architecture
  • Chartered membership of the Landscape Institute (CMLI), or be working towards Chartership with substantial relevant experience
  • Strong experience undertaking LVIA and landscape planning work within the UK
  • A thorough understanding of landscape character assessment and the UK planning system
  • Experience managing projects and delivering assessments independently
  • Excellent report writing, analytical and technical skills
  • Confidence undertaking site surveys, viewpoint selection and photography
  • Experience liaising with clients and multidisciplinary consultant teams
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Experience supporting or mentoring junior colleagues
  • A desire to continue developing professionally and take on greater responsibility within a growing practice
