Role – Senior/Principal Ecologist
Location – Buckinghamshire
Salary – Up to £35 - £50K DOE
 
We are recruiting for a Senior/Principal Ecologist on behalf of a multidisciplinary consultancy with offices located across the UK. Their team of Ecologists, Landscape Architects and Arboriculturist work on a wide range of projects throughout the UK, and they are now looking for a Senior or Principal Ecologist to support their expansion across the south of England.
The role will be based out of their Buckinghamshire office and the role will involve working closely with their Principal Ecologist to develop the ecology team.
 
The ideal person will have a high level of experience and experience with survey licences for dormice and herpetofauna would be beneficial, including knowledge of mitigation and previous successful submission of development licences for these species, although candidates nearing this level of experience would be considered. Experience of preparation of Ecological Impact Assessments/Ecology Chapters for use within Environmental Impact Assessments would also an advantage.
 
SENIOR/PRINCIPAL ECOLOGIST KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • A degree in Ecology or a closely related subject
  • Hold protected species licences
  • Experience of development licence application and supervision an advantage
  • Full membership of CIEEM
  • Self-motivated
  • Excellent Management skills
  • The ability to mentor junior members of staff
  • An excellent working knowledge of wildlife legislation and the planning process, habitat and protected species surveying
  • Strong botanical skills and experience of using UKHABs
  • An excellent understanding of Biodiversity Net Gain assessments with a competent handle on
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Excellent technical report writing skills
  • Proficient in the use of QGIS mapping and bat call analysis software
  • A full UK driving licence and car ownership with valid business insurance is essential
